A Cleaned Up Chasseriau
Sheldon Lichter has been looking for a good image of Chasseriau's The Toilet of Esther and I'm happy to oblige. The original painting is somewhat damaged, but I managed to clean it up quite a bit. Here it is...

It would be so interesting to know Marcel Proust's comments about this representation of one of his most beloved subjects: The jewess being prepared to marry the most powerfull of the goyim. The same destiny of his own mother and himself - jews that reached the top of the European Society of begin of twenty century or Mr.Yoder that certainly is admired by many for his efforts in promoting good art among gentiles
