William Bouguereau
Speaking of paintings I had not seen before, I found this William Bouguereau (1825-1905) painting that I had not seen before in Christie's catalog. It's apparently already in the upcoming catalogue raisonne, though not the ARC site, but I certianly had not encountered it before.

Brian,
That isn't the whole artwork, its cropped at the bottom, in the actual painting it shows her entire leg down to her foot.

Thanks for the tip. Do you know anywhere that the picture is published in a more complete form?

You can find an image of the complete picture at www.andersongalleries.com under Sold Works. They also sold a very good Bouguereau called 'Reflexion (La Jeune Ouvriere)'. I also have a booklet from them with the picture and would be able to provide a larger image, but I got some spot on it which I would have to edit out. Anderson Galleries is largely dedicated to 19th century academic art, and other late 19th century art, and can be found in Beverly Hills near the Sotheby's building there.

Yea, I forgot to mention they also sold Bouguereau's painting 'Day', which I have a photo of. It was sort of amazing how clean and precise Bouguereau's use of line was

Dear Brian
As always I found something new on your excellent website.
The best website I've found so far for Bouguereau's paintings is www.biblepainting.com/bouguereau.

It looks like they have been grabbing some of my images over there too (not that I mind of course). There's a great collection of them over at http://www.artrenewal.org/ too. Check 'em out.

I was reviewing your collection and this past weekend was viewing Crown of Flowers by Bouguereau at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in their permanent collection. The detail is so amazing. You do not have it listed where the original painting is located, just thought you might want to know.
